Equity Initiatives Fund

Purpose 

The Career Center’s mission is to support and equip CSU students to discover and pursue their goals. We do this by honoring social identities and challenging systemic barriers. Thus, the Career Center commits to allocating a portion of our self-generated revenue annually to support equity-based career initiatives. Read more about our Purpose and Mission.

Mission 

The mission of the Equity Initiatives Fund is to promote Black and/or African American empowerment in identifying and creating career-related opportunities. 

Students can apply for a maximum of $1000 to support the following professional development opportunities:

  • Travel/housing costs for internships, practicums, and field placements 
  • Graduate School admission Prep/Exams fees 
  • Graduate school application fees 
  • Industry specific trainings and certification courses 
  • Exam fees for certification or licensure   
  • Professional organization membership fees 
  • Registration and travel costs for professional conferences  

Eligibility and Applying

  • Currently enrolled CSU undergraduate or graduate student  
  • Meet the mission of the fund to promote Black and African American Empowerment through professional development opportunities 
  • Demonstration of professional development opportunity by providing website link or offer letter  

Application Checklist: 

  • Briefly share why you are applying for the Equity Fund and how do you plan on using the Equity Fund.  
  •  Describe how your request connects to the mission of the Fund to Promote Black and African American Empowerment through professional development opportunities 
  • Share the cost of the professional development opportunity and how much are you requesting  
  • Website link to professional development opportunity or provide offer letter (e.g., prospective graduate school admission’s website, internship offer letter) 
  • Optional demographic questions

Application Deadlines and Award Notifications

We accept applications all year until April 15th, 2023 or as funds are available. The selection committee reviews applications on an ongoing basis, and we notify students between 4-6 weeks after you ap

NOTE: The Equity Initiatives Fund will be awarded in the form of a stipend, which is considered taxable income to the student. Prior to accepting the fund, please check with the Office of Financial Aid regarding potential impacts on your financial aid package.
